Focus on Women
At PLTS, the installation of the first woman president of an ELCA seminary in 2005 generated new hope and enthusiasm for the leadership of women in the church. A grant from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans makes it possible for PLTS to connect with women inspired about theological education and interested in PLTS as a seminary in the West. The new PLTS Philanthropy—Focus on Women project helps educate women about ways to do charitable giving that will empower them as stewards. Philanthropic gifts can support the annual fund, scholarships and the endowment.
Women are important to the future of theological education because:
- Women are key donors in our society, but they are often not recognized for their philanthropy.
- Women desire to gain financial literacy and acumen in order to make independent decisions about their wealth and assets.
