From the President

Welcome to the PLTS Web site. I invite you to explore these pages. Here you will meet the amazing people who give this seminary life. Here you will learn how you can participate in the life of PLTS as a seeker, as a student, as a lifelong learner, as a supporter, as a graduate, as a friend. Here you will discover the many ways in which PLTS fulfills its mission: to prepare leaders for the church by deepening faith, challenging minds, expanding hearts and energizing for mission.

People choose PLTS for many reasons. Most often, students and graduates say they were attracted by the unique opportunity to be formed for ministry with a faculty and in a community that is deeply steeped in the Lutheran heritage with ready access to the rich ecumenical context of the eight other denominational seminaries in the Graduate Theological Union. They seek to prepare for the ministry of the future here on the western edge of the continent, in this swirling mix of cultures, religions, and overt secularity. They come because their passion for justice finds resonance here. They come because they want to be part of a close, committed community in a retreat-like setting. They want to know and be known by excellent teachers and scholars who will help them grow in their love of God, in their capacity to be a leader among the people of God, and in their ability to communicate God’s love beyond the bounds of the church.

Perhaps you see yourself in these people who chose PLTS. I invite you to make PLTS your seminary!
