Come to a Week of Renewal at PLTS
June 28 – July 2, 2010
You are invited to a week of renewal of classes, worship, stimulating conversation and restorative time in the company of old and new colleagues in ministry and lay people interested in theology in the wonderful setting between the Bay and Tilden Park. The Week of Renewal at PLTS offers stimulating classes in the morning and more, including:
- Daily worship with Pastor Jeff Johnson
- Continental breakfast each day
- BBQ on Monday evening
- Opportunity for spiritual direction
- Evening conversation around wine and cheese
- Walking or golfing in Tilden Park
- Daily case conference on difficult pastoral situations
- All the benefits of San Francisco by BART
- Weekend bonus package to enjoy the 4th of July by the Bay
- Housing on the PLTS campus as available or in the area
Daily Schedule
- 8:00 am — Morning Prayer
- 8:30 am — Continental Breakfast
- 9:00 – noon — Class (choose one of two options)
- 7:00 pm and on — Evening conversation with wine and cheese
Course Descriptions
“Ecology and Faith: How Green is the Gospel?” — What does the good news of salvation in Jesus Christ have to do with pressing environmental issues such as climate change, personal consumption, air and water pollution, endangered species, stewardship of limited resources, and the disposal of nuclear waste? Taught by Mark Brocker, parish pastor, Bonhoeffer scholar, and lecturer, PLTS faculty.
“Unleashing the Power of the Bible for Teaching and Preaching” — The Bible is a book for life and faith but it is also an ‘embattled book’ today. The aim of this class is to revitalize the ways we teach and preach and read the Bible attending to the context of our lives in these complex times. Taught by Steed Davidson, Assistant Professor of Old Testament.
Costs
Tuition: $250
Hospitality: $105 (includes 1 BBQ and 5 Continental breakfasts but no housing)
Housing and Hospitality Package: $305 (includes 5 nights housing, Sunday – Friday, 1 BBQ, and 5 Continental breakfasts)
