2016-2017

Listed below are important dates throughout the school year for various workshops, academic deadlines and other program information. It is recommended to note these dates and times in your personal calendar as soon as possible.

Student Association Executive Committee (SAEC)

All students are members of the Student Association. The Executive Committee (SAEC) is elected at the beginning of the year and is responsible for helping the Student Association to realize its goals of full student participation, lifting up student interests and concerns, and affirm the diversity of the student body. They also review and award student grant requests for trainings and events, and approve club budgets.

An informational meeting, led by the 2016 Summer Steering Committee, will be held Friday, September 2 at 4:15pm in the Dels Courtyard.

• Sept. 21, 2016, 3:00-4:30 p.m. (first SAEC meeting)

  Club budgets and grant applications due Fri, Oct. 14 by 5:00 p.m.
• Nov. 16, 2016, 2:00-3:30 p.m.
• Dec. 7, 2016, 2:00-3:30 p.m.
• Feb. 15, 2017, 1:00-2:30 p.m.
  Club budgets and grant applications due Fri, Feb 10 by 5pm
• Mar. 15, 2017, 1:00-2:30 p.m.

Constitution Day

A showing of “A More Perfect Union: The U.S. Constitution in the 21st Century” will be in Giesy 1 on Constitution Day. Viewing will begin at 12:15 p.m. - perfect for your lunch break!

Welcome Reception for Students and Faculty of Color

GTU Dinner Board Room

A Welcome Reception for Students and Faculty of Color is set for 5:00-6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 28 at the Graduate Theological Union will take place in the GTU Dinner Board Room at 2400 Ridge Road, Berkeley.

Anti-Racism Training

Friday, September 30, 2016
9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

An anti-racism training workshop is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Friday, September 30, with lunch provided. Attendance is required for students.

Boundaries Workshop

Wednesday, October 5, 2016
1:30-4:00 p.m.

Training on professional boundaries is scheduled for 1:30-4:00 p.m. Location TBA. Attendance is required for students.

  • 1:30-2:15 p.m. - Endorsement Workshop for students going on project or internship in Sp 17 or Fa 17 who have not yet applied to be scheduled for endorsement or have not yet been endorsed, and for Lutheran Year In-Residence students
  • 2:15-3:00 p.m. - Approval Workshop for students going on project or internship in Sp 17 and students currently on project or internship who need a refresher about the approval process

Alcohol Awareness & QPR Training

An alcohol awareness workshop is scheduled for 1:00-2:00 p.m. in Giesy 1 on Wednesday, November 2. A QPR (gatekeeper training for suicide prevention) session follows from 2:30-3:30 p.m. Attendance at both is required for students.

Portico Insurance Conversation for Students

All students on internship and going out on internship in 2017-2018 should attend this session 1:15-2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5, in Giesy 1, to learn about the insurance options for ELCA leaders.
