Announcing the next Rector of PLTS: Rev. Dr. Colleen Windham-Hughes
Rev. Dr. Colleen Windham-Hughes has been appointed by California Lutheran University’s President, the Rev. Dr. John A. Nunes, to serve as the next Rector of Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary.

Rev. Dr. Colleen Windham-Hughes has been appointed by California Lutheran University’s President, the Rev. Dr. John A. Nunes, to serve as the next Rector of Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary.
Dr. Windham-Hughes most recently served as Associate Vice President for Mission and Identity at California Lutheran University, where she was previously a faculty member and Chair of the Religion Department. In recent years, she served as CLU’s Associate Dean of Interdisciplinary Programs and Community Outreach in the College of Arts and Sciences. Dr. Windham-Hughes has been active in the Network of ELCA Colleges and Universities, including as editor of Intersections and on the Faculty Working Group that plans the Vocation of Lutheran Higher Education Conference.
Dr. Windham-Hughes will soon move to Berkeley and begin her new position later this August. Please join us in praying for her leadership as we continue to work together toward a shared vision of impactful theological education for all

August 26, 2024PLTS has for the past several years been adapting to the changing landscape of theological education and the church by developing a robust Distributed Learning version of our degree programs and creating programs for a broader audience. The Graduate Theological Union has also been changing. As the seminary continues to implement its strategic vision for the future, we have made the difficult decision to leave the Graduate Theological Union in two years.

Dr. Gouw clearly described the mechanism and uses of CRISPR for a lay audience, and then dug deeper into the ethical and religious implications of this powerful gene-editing tool. Afterward, Dr. Ted Peters offered a response that pushed religious leaders, particularly pastors, to think through how the existence and increasing prominence of this technology might affect their congregants.
