Cross-Cultural Experience
Cross-cultural experience is a required and supervised emersion experience which ordinarily takes place over the course of three weeks during the January intersession in a student‘s second year, and after completing the Ministry Across Cultures class. Groups of five or more students immerse themselves in specific sites by participating in the day-to-day and worship lives of diverse congregations and communities including African-American, Latino, Asian, Indigenous, and multicultural contexts.
The cross-cultural experience is designed to encourage student awareness and foster
understanding of, and mutuality in, pastoral ministry in the multicultural, multiracial
and multi-ethnic U.S. society.
Detailed information about Cross Cultural Experience is provided to students during New Student Orientation as well as in the Ministry Across Cultures Class. Students with any questions about Cross Cultural Experience are encouraged to contact
the Contextual Education Office.
