Rev. Ronald P. Grout

January 24, 1934 to May 17, 2017

Ron was born in Staten Island, New York City, to parents Stanley and Mary Grout. In 1947, the family moved to Riverside, California. They, Ron met Clara Lucille (Lucy) Speas in 1954 when she moved from Kalona, Iowa. They were united in marriage on August 21, 1955 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Riverside.

Ron received his BA from UC Riverside and his Master of Divinity from PLTS in 1962. He was ordained at his home congregation.

Ron's first parish was in Lundar, Manitoba. In 1966, he accepted a call from Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Frances, Ontario, where he served for twelve years. In that time, the family bought a cabin on Rainy Lake, where they spent many memorable summers (and winter visits too).

In 1978, Ron accepted a call from Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He served this congreation until 1985, which he was called to serve at Bethesda Lutheran Church in Kenora, Ontario.

Ron and Lucy retired in 1997 and made their home in Morson, Ontario where they lived until his passing on May 17, 2017. During their retirement they were very active at Trinity Lutheran Church in Bergland, Ontario.

Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife Lucy, his children Gregory (Penny) Grout of Boyd, Texas, Ralph (Colleen) Grout of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Kathleen (Rockford) Moen of Morson, Ontario, and Ruth Kerner of Argyle, Texas.
